Poof! There they were! All of us started laughing at the unlikeliness, “Ok guys, it’s meant to be, lets grab a drink!” At that point we all knew we had no other choice. We headed down Khao San Road, pumped for our serendipitous night ahead.

I caught myself wondering if I had an obligation to participate in the Khao San Road shenanigans? Khao San Road is one of the craziest party streets in the world and I was spending my nights napping, writing and eating street food… SOBER. But I was honestly enjoying being calm among the chaos. I reminded myself that the whole reason I was traveling was to live life on my own terms and vowed to keep doing just that… My party time would come.
It’s vagabonding after all, long term budget traveling. The less money spent upfront means more money on the road! It’s easy to justify “needing” this or that for a long term trip. But in reality, all you really “need” is a passport and access to cash, everything else can be purchased on the road.
After 36+ hours of travel, including 3 plane rides, 22 hours in flight and a missed connection, I made it safely to BANGKOK!
On April 4th 2018 I left the USA with a one way ticket to Bangkok in hand. On a layover in Tokyo I decided to post my departure photo and brief explanation of how I got to this point on the Girls LOVE Travel Facebook page…
The response I got was unimaginable! Within a few days my story impacted thousands. It received over 14 thousand reactions and 1 thousand comments! I was overwhelmed with love, excitement and gratitude! Hearing that people can relate to my hardships, travel dreams and non-traditional lifestyle is priceless!
If I get to a point where I want to settle somewhere for a longer period of time (several months to a year) and need to support myself, I can teach English!
